There are two basic types of generators:
  • eVironments - scenery or backdrop
    • phlatz
      • similar to scenery flats in theater
    • reflekz
      • kaleidoscopes with various reflection counts
    • konduitz
      • tunnels with a twist or two
  • reAktors - respond to audio levels
    • emittz
      • generalized particle system
    • spektra
      • particle system approach to spectrum analyzers
    • slinx
      • springy type particle system
Generators are the core of dxp. The six types of generators display adjustable parameters in generator specific Controllers.

A generator has two basic areas of control:

  • Geometry
  • Texture

Think of geometry as the canvas a painter uses, or the paper a photograph is printed on.

Think of texture as the paint on the canvas, or the image on the photographic paper.

Each generator has five main control modules in their associated Controller:

  • Initial Position (or Shape)
  • Size & Shape (or Type)
  • Geometry Motion
  • An additional Texture module
    or the reAktion module
    (
    depending on the generator)
  • Texture
